Questions people ask
Updated November 1, 2026
Is Goodmorrow free?
Yes. No paywall and no ads.
Do I need a smart ring?
No. With a ring, we start off with a clearer understanding of your data. Without that, day one is a few questions, and your morning notes fill in from there.
Which rings and watches work?
Oura Ring connects directly. Anything that saves your sleep data to the Apple Health app, like an Apple Watch, works through it.
Can't I just ask ChatGPT or Claude about my sleep?
You can. In the US, ChatGPT connects to Apple Health on every plan, and Claude can too if you pay for Pro or Max (it's in beta), so a ring that syncs to Apple Health shows up in both. It's handy for making sense of the numbers. Goodmorrow picks one habit from them and works on it with you. There's more in our guide, Can ChatGPT read your sleep data?
How is it different from my ring's own app?
Your ring's app is generic and built around the numbers, with scores, trends and often an AI advisor you can ask. Goodmorrow's model is built specifically for sleep and helps you work through it proactively. You can keep using your ring's app alongside it.
What is CBT-I?
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, a structured therapy usually run over four to eight sessions. It's what doctors' guidelines recommend first for long-term insomnia. Many of Goodmorrow's habits borrow from it, but Goodmorrow isn't CBT-I itself.
Is Goodmorrow therapy?
No. It's a wellness app that coaches you through habits, one at a time. Full CBT-I with a trained therapist goes further, including a sleep schedule worked out with you. If poor sleep has gone on three or more nights a week for three months, it's worth asking about.
How long until it helps?
Sleep habits are slow. If one is going to help, it usually shows over a few weeks, not a few nights. It often gets worse before it gets better, especially in the first week of a new get-up time.
Does it record my voice?
No. Apple turns your words into text, on your phone when it can and on Apple's servers when it can't. We only get the text, and the app never saves the audio. You check the tags before anything is saved, and you can delete a note whenever you like.
What happens to my data?
We use it to coach you, and to count which parts of the app get used. We don't sell it or use it for ads. An AI model writes what we find in your data and the replies to your notes, and none of it is used to train a model. The privacy policy has the full list.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. In the app, Settings, then Delete account. It removes your account and everything in it.
Will it send a lot of notifications?
Not many. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.
Is it on Android?
Not yet. It needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
Is it a medical device?
No. Goodmorrow is a wellness tool. It doesn't diagnose anything or replace a doctor. See one if someone has seen you stop breathing or gasp in your sleep, you snore loudly, you nod off in the day without meaning to or get drowsy at the wheel, restless legs keep you up, or you've felt low most days. If you take something for sleep, take it only as prescribed and talk to your doctor before changing it. If you're having thoughts of suicide or harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US, or your local emergency number.
